We've been a little busy in these days and actually it's been a while since our last strip. This week (hey, it's monday... sometimes we still respect the monday deadline :D), anyway, this week we are also proud to present a script written by one of our lovely fans!

Lately we've received a lot of scripts from you but we haven't had the time to schedule them. Hopefully we'll be able to release more fan-written strips in the near future, in the meanwhile please say hello to Carol Riedel, the author of this script!

We don't have decided yet how to name the Second Doctor (his surname is a bit hard to shorten...) what's your suggestion? Write your ideas in the comments below and if you want to submit your script just hit this link! [...]

There's a movie which in our opinion is beyond awesomeness! Zoolander is one of the funniest movies of all time and there's a particular scene you HAVE TO love, because it's simply Epic (with the cammeo of David Bowie *_*)!
OK, I know you got it, but for those few people who use to live under a rock, I'm talking about the Walk Off Scene!
If you're wondering why I'm telling you this, it's because we love cross-over, and we love make cross-overs with cross-over (you know, a bit of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff) and we are proud to introduce you Simmy's Tales vs Comic Who in an epic Wolk Off! Who's going to win? Well, it will be hard to choose for Jack... Maybe someone have to go monk :D [...]

The Raiders of the Lost Puppet - Part 1

We always saw Eccly and Smithy ignoring the Rose Doll, someone could think that they are not interested in it, or even in Rose. But what do they think for real? Smithy is actually happily married (more than once) but I'm quite sure he could not resist for long and he is up to something right now. And what about Eccly? Where is he during this impossible adventure of Smithy?
I think you'll enjoy to read this strip listening to this theme. [...]

Ianto's Wall

Ianto (well, "our" Ianto) is back on his wall! I'm not mad, I'm talking about the Memorial Wall in Cardiff Bay. If you don't understand what I'm talking about yet, you have to know that the location in Cardiff Bay where was set the Torchwood Hub access is now completely covered with drawings, messages and gifts to Ianto Jones, there is also a memorial plaque!
This year in March we were invited to the Doctor Who Official Convention and wandering around the Bay we discovered the existence of this amazing wall! We decided to add a Comic Who tribute, but we didn't have anything to protect it against the rain so by now it is gone. [...]

Writing Scripts

It's time for a new Confidential. Sometimes the great problem writing a script is to be synthetic. We receive a lot of script from our followers and some of them have this kind of problem, so I've imagine that people who are used to write a lot would have the same problem on a greater scale. And what would happens if one of the greatest writer of our time write a script for one of the best TV sci-fi series? This is a hypothetical conversation between Neil Gaiman and Steven Moffat about the script of the Doctor's Wife.

I want to take advantage of thisoccasion to notify you that we are releasing a brand new web-comic. You can find all the details here: [...]

Shadows and Bananas

A few weeks ago we re-watched Silence in the Library and my first thought was -I want to have a Vashta Nerada in Comic Who- but actually it's hard to make it fun. It was easy with the Weeping Angels, but I wasn't sure about a Vashta Nerada, than I had an idea (and you are about to read it)and I really hope you're going to like it, because I really would love to introduce Nery as a regular character in our future strips! It was a wonderful trip through England, Scotland and Ireland; it was amazing, we had wonderful weather (even in Scotland), we met a lot of people (even some Comic Who fan :D) and we enjoyed every single moment of this journey...
Actually, we were organized with our tiny Doctors to continue the release of our strips even during our absence, but (OBVIOUSLY) something went wrong!

Take a look to what really happened in this two-part Confidential (hey, it's been a long time from the last Confidential... we really need to do more strips like this! :D)

As you may know, I'm a storyteller; I'm used to write novels and the Comic Who scripts, so I'm not exactly a journalist and what I'm going to do with this article is to write a story, a story about two guys who falled into the Doctor Who universe and survived to tell what they saw.
I know, you may feel unconfortable with this kind of report, but I'm sure you have been already able to find other reviews that may suit with your interests in the past days. [...]

Anyway, if you (like us) love this blog, don't worry, because it's not going to die. I've already developed a little script which will automatically send a preview of every news from the new website to this blog, so it will be always updated and you will be able to get used to the new website!

I really hope you like our job and you will appreciate the new Comic Who site. If you have suggestions or opinion you want to share with us, you will be able to send us messages from the "Contact Us" page.

We also want to take this opportunity to introduce our support to The Neighbor-Whos! The new series of fan videos produced and directed by Lady Soliloque... It's so funny that you MUST follow it!

Simmy's Tales: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - Part 2

The family is growing! Last week we told you that Simmy was going to meet some new friends and here we are... Jack and Ianto are going to join the Master in this unexpected holiday in the Seventies, but the great problem is still unfixed: Gene's collection was ruined by Baby Yana and if they don't want to be killed they have to sort out a solution!!!!
Of course the Back to The Future quote is intentional XD

Simmy's Tales: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly - Part 1

It's time to do something new! We had a lot of requests to introduce some old characters like classic Doctors and/or classic enemies, but it's actually very hard to do this with "our" timeline! Hey, but we have a character who was sent back in the Seventies for a few strips! Yes, we are talking about Simmy and his time leap occurred in this strip. Oh well, we know that our Eccly, Tenny and Smithy came back to "rescue" him on last year Christmas Special, but what happened in the meantime? We don't know exactly in which year the Doctors came back for him, so we don't know how many adventure he lived with baby Yana and his new friends (yes, he is going to meet some new "unexpected" friends) but I'm sure we are going to find out!
With great proud let me to introduce you the "Simmy's Tales": Our new series of strips which starts with a three part story, we really hope you will enjoy it!

Script Contest 2012

@ComicWho #Contest

This contest is designed to engage Comic Who readers and make them part of the creative process behind the realization of the strip. Participants will be asked to write the script of a strip that will be brought to the attention of an international jury. The best one will be turned into a real strip and published on the Comic Who blog page.

The Subject
Each year we will propose a different subject on which the participants must rely to carry out their script. The subject this year is Smithy!
Every script must use our Eleventh Doctor as the main character; you can also include Tenny, Eccly and any other Comic Who character you want, but Smithy must be the protagonist. You can create parodies of events which occurred in the TV series Doctor Who, but original stories will be much appreciated.

The Jury
The jury will be composed by the following people:
- Elisa Moriconi (Comic Who Illustrator)
- Chiara Cavalli (The artist who realized the main price)
- Francesco Spreafico ( webmaster)
- Lady Soliloque (Writer and Video Editor)
- Luke Williams (The Doctor Who Site webmaster)
- Michael David Key (Artist)
- Craig Hurle (Doctor Who and the Tardis by Craig Hurle administrator)

Contest Rules
- The contest will begin at 0:00 AM (GMT) on March 1, 2012 and will end at 11:59 PM (GMT) on March 31, 2012.
- Scripts must be uploaded through the automatic submit page at this link.
- All scripts sent outside of the validity period of the contest will be ignored.
- All scripts must be written in proper English (no slang will be accepted).
- It will be accepted only one script per person.
- The Comic Who staff will answer with an email by communicating the acceptance of the script or the reasons for which have been refused.
- Winners will be announced on April 8, 2012.
The jury's decision is final!

Script Rules
- No obscenity and/or vulgarity and/or violence will be accepted.
- Every script must be divided into 4 (four) vignettes.
- You have to describe all the backgroungs as you are describing a picture.
- You have to describe exactly the laying and the facial expression of each character in the vignette.
- No more than 4 (four) characters are allowed into a single vignette.
- No more then 3 (three) balloons are allowed into a single vignette.
- No more then 30 (thirty) words are allowed into a single vignette (this includes onomatopoeia). Example: if you have two ballons into a vignette, you can write 15 words in the first one, 14 in the secont and use 1 onomatopoeia.

Tips & Tricks
- Strips are like puns, should make people laugh by saying a few things, basing mainly on the expressions and comic absurdities.
- Don't waste time creating complex stories, usually a simple situation is much more fun. Sometimes you do not even need words to make people laugh (think of the Valentine's Day spcial).
- Too many characters and dialogues are often synonymous with confusion and risk of boring the reader. Try to be as concise as possible.
- Remember that vignettes provide a limited space, so do not overdo the details, otherwise you may not have enough space available for carrying out the scene.
- Read this Facebook Note to understand how to create a script.
- If you have doubts or concerns, please send an email to The Comic Who staff will answer soon as possible.

Contest Winner Award & Prizes
- The winning story will be drawn by Elisa Moriconi (the Comic Who Illustrator) and published on our comic blog (with all the credits to the original author).
- The winner will receive a figurine of Smithy made in Polymer Clay (The one you can see on the flyer).
- The second place will win a Commission of a digital color illustration of a single character on white backgroung realized by Elisa Moriconi.
- The third place will win a Commission of a pencil sketch of a single character on simple backgroung realized by Elisa Moriconi.

The Fan Choice Award
After the contest scripts of stories that are classified by the # 2 to # 10 will also be published as Notes on the Comic Who Facebook Fanpage. The public will choose the best by putting the "like" on the favorite script.
- The vote will take place from April 8, 2012 to April 14, 2012.
- The winning story will be drawn by Elisa Moriconi (the Comic Who Illustrator) and published on our comic blog.
- The author will win a Commission of a digital color illustration of a single character on white backgroung realized by Elisa Moriconi.
