October 2011

The Rose Doll made his first appearance in a PinUp and we received tons of messages of appreciation, so we inserted it in a strip, but it wasn't enough, so we decided to diedicate it a full strip, maybe with a Tenny puppet...

Poor Tenny, he can't tell his feeling for Rose even playing with puppets... maybe it's too late to play with dolls, there are so many games to play with the other Doctors, and maybe with some other friends

I love the way the Ood and the Sontaran looks in Comic Who style, anyway we have learned that it's always a problem to go to the park the same day as the Doctors...

October is Smithy's month and we wanted to celebrate his birthday with a Fish Finger Custard cake... well, at least in an illustration, but it seems he liked it...

But celebrations do not end here because October means also Halloween. We wanted to realize a special strip for the occasion. Some people didn't get the beens reference; I invite all of them to take a closer look to the beginning of series 5 and Torchwood series 3 ;-)
The apple reference is a self quote from this strip, and it's not the only one, this strip is full of cross-reference, it's up to you to catch them all.

That's all folks, see you tomorrow!

September 2011

We received a great gift on September. A great friend of us, Chiara Cavalli, created a tiny statue of Rory the Roman upon Elisa's Comic Who design. We were so proud of this wonderful gift we received that we made a complete photo shoot.

It's an amazing piece of art! It's perfect in every angle and we love it! It's actually on my desk and every time I need inspiration I look at it. If you want to see the full gallery of pictures, just hit this link!
I think it's too early to talk about this, but Chiara is working on something new... keep an eye on the blog!

Anyway, the moving is over and it's time to make some new strips! This time the inspiration came from the 2010 Christmas special... we know that the Doctor isn't good with moneys, but maybe the problem isn't with moneys, but with his wallet...

Another good point to join our Facebook page is becase sometimes we involve our followers in the creation process of a script: this time I asked on the page which characters they would like to see in a strip and the  most wanted were River and Jenny. This is what my mind has given birth:

The month is coming to an end, so it's time for a new Comic Who Confidential. This is my favorite one and explain why Russel T Davies chose Daleks and Cyberman to end the second series of Doctor Who. Take a look...

I think there's no need of explanations... see you tomorrow for a new post!

August 2011

This summer we moved to a new home, so the strips were discontinued and we published only two of them, plus a special cross over, but first things first.

Simmy want his Limeykins back. He knows he's living with the Doctors and he has a special weapon to achive his revenge

Look at Simmy's backpack, isn't it lovely? Anyway, this come from an old saying (stated in the last panel) but it works, the Doctors doesn't like apples very much (you're warned iPhone users ^_^).

We realized a strip to celebrate summer in Comic Who style, we took inspiration from one of the episodes of season 6 and we put togeher Limeykins with the Adiposes

As I told, we didn't have much time to realize a full set of strips this month, but we wanted to publish a sort of gift for our followers making a cross over with one of the greatest BBC series (besides Doctor Who, obviously)
We are talking about Life on Mars, where John Simm (Simmy) plays Sam Tyler, a police inspector sent back in time after an accident. The image is named Gene Hunt because, even if the story is based on the character of Sam Tyler, Gene Genie is unquestionably the true star!

See you space cowboy...

July 2011

Do you ever wondered what the Doctors eat? Well, I do, and which better occasion then a dinner with friends, and the last wash the dishes!

This time, in the third panel, we introduced every single companion in all the first 5 series, and what about the  TARDIS junkyard? Well, it's not the same seen in The Doctor's Wife, but when I wrote the script the episode hasn't aired yet ^_^
A little tease for the new year... the TARDIS Junkyard is coming back, and if you follow us on Facebook maybe you know what I'm talking about!

We've seen Limeykins a lot of times with the Doctors, but what about Simmy? He loose his freind and now he lives with a baby version of himself... we think he is going to miss his good old Limey...

A heart breaking strip for a great character... A lot of followers are loving him more then Eccly, Tenny or Smithy!

It's time for a new collaboration. Michela Magnani sent me a script, a very good script, so we decided to realize it! Let's see what came out...

If you want to send us a script, don't hesitate to write to comicwho@gmail.com. We read every submission, and if it's good maybe we'll create a strip from your idea! If I remember well, the first strip of the new year is from a follower who sent us her script.

Anyway, last strip of the month, so it's time for a new Comic Who Confidential, this time we show you a little joke made by Limeykins and Smithy during the shooting of the Valentine's Day Special.

We loved it ^_^

See you tomorrow!

June 2011

And here comes the summer! After a lot of new stuff, contests and more, it's time to come back to the origin! A good set of funny strips to welcome the new season!

In the Comic Who universe, the Doctors live in a flat, so I suppose they have to pay for the rent and the bills. They need a job to go on with their life and which better place then the Doctor Who Experience?

For the second time we go into the Comic Who world, this time directly into a strip. Yep, the guy and the girl visiting the Experience are me and Elisa. If you don't remember our first appearence, look at this!

Another way to make moneys is sublet a room and the Doctors carefully chose their new tenants... they wanted someone to help them deal with stress, but things often turn out to backfire. This is a two part story in which we introduce the Adiposes for the first time.

You can see a sort of correspondence between the Adiposes and the Doctors and the blue screwdriver is mended because of this accident! Did you notice the Rose doll? We are going to talk about it in another post ;-)

It's time for a new Comic Who Confidential, this time we're going to interview Eccly behind the scenes asking him a few questions about his life and his friends.

This was a sort of experiment but I think it's been successful and people asked us new interviews, and I think they're coming in 2012.

See you tomorrow!

May 2011 - The First Contest

As you may remember, on March we started our first contest, on May 1st we published the results. Our wonderful jury selected their favorite scripts and you can find the top ten at this link.

It was a difficult choice to pick up the winner because there where a lot of good works! The top three received some of our goods as rewards and the first script was finally realized by our great illustrator Elisa.

But there's more... Infact, the top ten scripts were published on our Facebook page where our followers were able to choose their favorite. The winner was published on our blog with the strip drawn by Elisa. You can download the complete collection of scripts at this link.

Anyway, it's time for a new strip! We scheduled the strips taken from the contest starting from the second week of May, just to give Elisa enough time to realize them. The first strip of the month was originally scheduled as the Easter special, but we decided to postpone it because we wanted to remember Elisabeth Sladen with this strip.
Well, originally I had the idea for a Carnival special but then I realize that Carnival was already over. I was about to discard the idea when I though: 'Hey, they are the Doctors, they have a time machine!' so I just adapted the story to fit into the new time setting:

The Torchwood reference came from the fact they were airing some rerun on satellite TV. Even Limeykins was a late addition to the strip (he didn't exists when I wrote the script) but this was an occasion to point out the fact that he's living with the Doctors and he is afraid of coming back to Simmy's house!
As you can notice the Doctors are dressing like other classic Doctors (8th, 5th and 4th) and even Simmy is dressed like a Doctor (the 6th) while Baby Yana is dressing like a Time Lord. Inside Simmy's house you can see all the companions dressed as other Doctors even if the image is too small to understand it (Rose as the 1st, Amy as the 7th, Donna as the 2nd and Martha as the 3rd).

The next two strips are from the contest winner Jonathan Hodges and the Facebook award winner Faith Marie Vinnicombe.

We loved how they came out and we're just planning a new contest like this one! We hope to have the same success of the 2011's.

May was a month full of surprises, infact we introduced also a new series of strips... a sort of Extra strips... we wanted to do something like the Doctor Who Confidentials... showing a sort of behind the scenes of Comic Who. We named them Comic Who Confidentials and we started with a guest wirter, a freind of us: Michela Magnani.

If you didn't understand, the two guys talking with Sherlock are Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat... Actually there were more things in this months, but we're going to talk about that in a separate post!

See you tomorrow!

April 2011

April started with a sort of April's fool! Have you ever had that kind of ideas that you think: Hey, it's the silliest idea ever but it's pure genius! Well, I had that idea!
One of the greatest moments in series 5 it's the Stonehenge speech! I know it by heart! Sometimes I say it out loud, even in public places! But take a moment to think about it, think about every single enemy of the Doctor listening to that words, they know exactly what the Pandorica is an the fact that they aren't there to take control over it! Think about what you would do in their place... I think I would have laughed out loud in Nelson style! If you're a Dalek or a Cyberman or whatever you pretend to be, the Stonehenge speech is one of the funniest moments in your life, so it's perfect to fool!

Look carefully to the first and the third panel, oh yes, that's Limeykins, we're starting to put it here and there like a mascotte! But I'm not talking about it! There's a very special Roman in this strip. I'm talking about Rory, he is my favourite character and we're going to give him more and more importance, starting from the next strip...

This time the idea is from the special Christmas Invasion where a newly regenerated Doctor talk about a big threatening button. The story is all about Amy, she is one of the smartest companion of all times, so we thought she would even fool the Doctor just to borrow the TARDIS (Ok, I know, Borrow and TARDIS are two words that should never be in the same sentence)

Have you noticed the TARDIS in the background? ^_^

During April we also opened a Tumblr account, we started to note we were receiving a lot of visits from that social network, so why not open an official account?  And here we are!

Tumblr is a place where we could share everything we want and reblog what we like... we found pictures of followers, fanart or even simple comments that we simply loved to reblog.

Sometimes we publish pictures or charts or ideas, so, if you like our tiny world and you have a Tumblr account for yourself, don't esitate to follow us! It's like a secondary blog for a little more fun with more than one thousand followers! Instead, if you want a more direct contact with us, don't forget to join our Facebook page!

April 18 is the birthday of David Tennant, formerly known as the 10th Doctor. This year his birthday fell on Monday, so we wanted to celebrate him with a full strip. A sort of Mastercard Commercial with Tenny as the main character and with the guest appearence of all the other Doctors (eleven characters on a single panel... Elisa hated me!!!)

Now the sad stuff! This April we lost a great actress and one of the best companions the Doctor ever had... Elisabet 'Liz' Sladen passed away after a long fight against cancer. She was (and she will ever be) Sarah Jane Smith and we would like to remember her with the following strip:

I don't want to add any word after this strip, so i just invite you to join The Elisabeth Sladen Memorial Page!

See you tomorrow with a new month and, over all, the results of our first contest!
